FSU football has nothing left to vet with Mike Norvell, it's time to make a move

Keeping Norvell is doing more harm than good.

We wrote that Mike Norvell should have been fired after the Stanford game, but we can understand why they didn’t pull the trigger. However, after watching FSU over the last two weeks, and especially on Saturday night against Clemson, Mike Norvell will never return FSU to a respectable football program.

It’s why it’s time to make a move, no matter the cost. Yes, FSU is a significantly better team than a year ago, and four of their five losses have been by eight points or less. However, FSU went to Clemson knowing the importance of that game and was not prepared.

FSU faced a Clemson team that wanted to quit on Dabo Swinney at the first hint of adversity, but FSU allowed Clemson to set the tone early on offense. The FSU offense constantly shot itself in the foot with terrible decisions, poor execution, and poor situational awareness.

It’s the same thing over and over every week. The only reason FSU beat Wake Forest is that Wake did a better impersonation of what FSU does.

FSU will never get the players needed to turn this thing around with the product and results we see on the field. Opposing teams can, do, and will negatively recruit FSU on every facet. FSU can’t develop its players. FSU doesn’t play good situational football. How many players does FSU send to the NFL Draft under Mike Norvell? The media makes fun of FSU every week.

The crazy part is talent isn't the issue. This coaching staff can't get the talent to consistently perform at a high enough standard.

Folks are going to stop showing up to home games and giving money as long as he’s the coach. Some folks will say FSU can’t afford to fire him; well, they can’t afford not to. FSU has had weeks to figure out how to get it done, and it should happen ASAP.
