FSU football fans have already gone to war with a few guys involved with the College GameDay show. Kirk Herbstreit and Rece Davis are the first to come to mind for their role in FSU getting snubbed by the College Football Playoff committee in December 2023.
It's like they will look for anything possible to see if anything involving those guys tries to sleight FSU at all. Well, they found something else on Thursday when the announcement broke that FSU alum and longtime College GameDay show icon Lee Corso would retire after the first week of the 2025 college football season.
The College GameDay social media account posted this below with a graphic that didn't include FSU anywhere:
After 38 incredible years, Lee Corso is retiring โค๏ธ

For multiple generations, Coach has been the face of our Saturday mornings and the sport we love.
Our friend, our coach, our heart ... LC, you will forever be a College GameDay legend! pic.twitter.com/AjK8iNw7ye
It would be appropriate since Corso is a FSU graduate and the 1993 FSU vs. Notre Dame game hosted the first College GameDay show. Not to mention, Corso picked FSU many times over the years on the show. Check out what some FSU football fans had to say about the sleight:
Maybe the BIG 10 is a better option overall. You forgot a logo you ๐คก. ๐ข

Leaving FSU off of the design is diabolical. Nasty work, even for them. https://t.co/GsRNGTWLqQ

Definitely a UF intern that made this putting the Gator head on there and not a picture of him wearing his Alma Materโs Osceola head dress.

FSU fans didn't pull any punches, and rightfully so. I suppose the only way to make up for this would be for College GameDay to come to Tallahassee in week one when the Noles host the Alabama Crimson Tide. Our own Taylor Devers wrote why that needs to happen here.
It would be the perfect full-circle moment for an icon, especially since he's only going to appear in week 1. It would tie in perfectly because FSU was involved in the very first College GameDay show, and FSU faithful could show him how much he's loved.
FSU will play Alabama on August 30th, and the only other potential big matchup would be Clemson vs. LSU. The times for the games haven't been announced, but it's only right they bring "Scooter" home for the grand finale to an iconic career.
