Thomas Castellanos Decision-Making
Castellanos said all of the right things in a recent interview. One of the knocks on Castellanos has been his decision-making ability. Sometimes, he’d try to do too much and keep a play alive and lose a ton of yards, or other times he’d keep plays alive and force a pass that resulted in a turnover.
You’ve heard me repeatedly talk about how FSU coaches have tried to mold Castellanos like Jordan Travis. What made Travis so great was that he rarely turned the ball over and knew when to get what he could get with his legs and get out of bounds or get down.

FSU can’t afford to have Castellanos get hurt in the first game or turn the ball over multiple times against a team like Alabama. It’ll be key for Castellanos to stay within himself and take what’s available, aside from the obvious things like making throws to open receivers. If he can avoid turnovers and manage the game, it’ll give FSU a much better chance to keep it close or pull off the upset.
If he can do that against Alabama, that portends to much more success against lesser teams.
