FSU Offense
I’m catching some flak for my criticism of the FSU offense and their performance against a bad UVA defense, but I’m not backing down. They had too many empty possessions against a defense like that, but the good news is that most of it was a lack of execution or poor playcalling in different situations.
Tommy Castellanos was better than most think at passing it. He was 18 of 32 and had 1-2 passes he’d like to have back. However, FSU receivers failed to haul in two to three passes that would have gone for massive yards.
The throw to Duce Robinson in double OT was a DIME, and that call shouldn’t have been overturned since it was ruled a touchdown, but I digress.
FSU turned it over two times in regulation, missed a field goal, had a turnover on downs, only punted once, and scored 35 points. They had a bad game and still scored 35 points, and that will be enough to beat most teams they have remaining on the schedule.
Final Thoughts
The season is nowhere close to over. The game against Miami IS winnable next week. It’ll come down to effort and execution. The Noles will be at home, and Miami will come in off a bye week, so there could be some early rust in the game.
If FSU manages to win that game, the UVA game is forgotten about fairly quickly, and it’s a brand-new season. FSU would be in a great position at 4-1 with games they should win on deck.
