FSU basketball's impressive win over California should get Duke's attention

Florida State basketball improved to 18-14 with an easy 95-89 win over the No. 9 seed California Bears in the ACC Tournament. It’s the fourth consecutive win for the Noles as they continue to perform like one of the best teams in the nation over the past 15 games.

FSU shot 57 percent overall, 46 percent from three-point land, 40 points in the paint, and only had six turnovers in the game. The only area California had the advantage was in the rebounding department, but that was negated by how well FSU shot the ball.

The win moves FSU on to face the No. 1 seed Duke Blue Devils, whom they gave a tough game earlier this year before they started playing as well as they have over the past few games. Duke is also not 100 percent with a couple of players battling injuries.

FSU is a scary team to face right now with how well they are playing

Duke also had a double-bye as the No. 1 seed, and sometimes the long layoff can hamper teams. California isn’t a great team, but FSU by double-digits for the majority of the game. The final score was much closer than the game ever was.

No question, Duke will be the betting favorite, but we wrote if there was dark horse team to bet on to win the ACC Tournament, it's FSU. They are playing some of their best basketball and will go into the Duke game with a lot of confidence, based on how the first game went. The game was tied at halftime, and Duke only won by four points.

The game will start at 7 p.m. on Thursday, airing on ESPN.
