FSU baseball (2-0) clinched the series win over James Madison with a 9-2 win Saturday afternoon. There were concerns about the offense in the season opener, as FSU only scored three runs and had 10 strikeouts.
It didn't take long for the Noles to get on the scoreboard Saturday, as Gage Harrelson led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run to deep right field. They scored in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, and Alex Lodise, Max Williams, and Drew Faurot had big home runs.

It was a nice bounce-back day for Lodise, who struck out four times in the season opener. He went 3-5 with two RBI, and Faurot continues to tear the cover off the ball, going 2-4 with three RBI.
Harrelson and Max Williams had two RBI each. FSU had 10 hits overall, four home runs, four doubles, five walks, and 10 strikeouts.

The at-bats looked better overall, but a few guys are still trying to do too much. Max Williams had some awful swings outside of the home run.
Joey Volini got the start after a consistent offseason. He went 4.2 innings, allowing two hits, one walk, and seven strikeouts. He would have finished the fifth inning, but Faurot booted a routine groundball that would have been the third out.
Maison Martinez pitched 1.1 innings, allowed one hit, no walks, and two strikeouts. Peyton Prescott pitched 2.1 innings, allowed two hits, one earned run, one walk, and had four strikeouts. Chris Knier got the final two outs on a double play ground ball after walking the first batter faced with the bases loaded.
The pitching looks as good as advertised through the first two games. FSU pitchers have 29 strikeouts, five walks, seven hits, and one earned run allowed.
The Noles will look for the three-game sweep Sunday at noon. The weather forecast projects rain early in the morning, so we'll have to see if that's a factor. The game will air on the ACCNX channel.
