Florida State has signed a lot of blue-chip talent from South Florida over the years, and former four-star safety Conrad Hussey was thought to be a guy who could make a difference for the Noles in the 2023 recruiting class.
Hussey wasted no time getting in the field as a true freshman during FSU’s undefeated run through the regular season to secure its first ACC title since 2014. He played in all 14 games and amassed 22 tackles, one interception, two forced fumbles, and two passes defended.
Hussey was supposed to take that next step as a sophomore, but it never happened. He only played in 10 games and was less productive, often taking poor angles to make tackles and playing too soft.
Which is ironic, because he made some big physical hits as a freshman. Mike Norvell said he only wanted players who played with an edge in his program, and Hussey surprisingly came back for the 2025 spring before entering the transfer portal to transfer to the Oregon State Beavers.
Hussey only appeared in three games with Oregon State, preserving a redshirt year before entering the transfer portal after the 2025 season.
It’s not surprising to see that he has signed with the arch-rival Miami Hurricanes, a program that was in his backyard growing up:

Conrad Hussey leaving FSU was addition by subtraction. Can he put it together at Miami?

Hussey is talented, but has a history of injuries, some of which contributed to some of his problems at FSU. If he can stay healthy and find the right attitude, he’s probably worth taking a flyer on. If not, he won’t contribute much and could continue to be a liability when on the field. Either way, Florida State fans won’t be rooting for him now that he’s at Miami.
