FSU legendary quarterback Jameis Winston hasn’t had the career most FSU fans would have hoped for after becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. It’s sort of weird in a way that he hasn’t had the opportunity to be a full-time starter since leaving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that drafted him.

Winston has been a backup with three different teams for the most part since the 2020 season. He seems fine with that role and could probably continue playing for a few more years in the league, as he just turned 32 years old in January.

Winston has often been misunderstood, but has always been a smart guy. The guy got accepted into Stanford out of high school, and he seems to have been pivoting for a career after his football career ends for the past few years. He’s already appearing on shows as a Fox Sports Digital Correspondent for the 2025 Super Bowl. He served as a guest analyst on FOX NFL Kickoff and FOX NFL Sunday during a bye week of last year’s season (while still an active player in the NFL).

His latest opportunity will help him expand his portfolio to include a sport he also played at FSU, baseball:

Netflix has been expanding its LIVE sports coverage in recent years, airing boxing matches. Those events have done massive numbers, which is likely why they keep expanding to include new things.

Winston has a high-energy and engaging personality. He's full of charisma, and always been a natural with a microphone in his hand. All you have to do is go back to his days at FSU when he was interviewing his teammates at practice. Congrats to Jameis on preparing for life after football and continuing to represent FSU football in a first-class manner.
