People love to dislike the Florida State Seminoles, and sometimes it is warranted because the program has had two straight losing seasons. They haven't been the model of consistency since former head coach Jimbo Fisher left the program in 2017.
This isn't to say that head coach Mike Norvell isn't capable of getting the job done because we saw him in 2022 and 2023, where he had a combined 23 wins in the timeframe. It is difficult to win in college football with the Wild West of the transfer portal.
There were times when I thought Mike Norvell over-relied on the transfer portal instead of building from within the high school ranks. With that said, the sport has changed, and some programs like to get those ready-made players like a Trey Benson, Johnny Wilson, Keon Coleman, Jared Verse, Jermaine Johnson II, Braden Fiske, Tatum Bethune, etc.
However, Florida State doesn't allow connect on that level of player, and there are some risks involved. The Seminoles have been the topic of negativity lately, with head coach Mike Norvell firmly on the hot seat.
Former Florida State defensive tackle Grady Kelly has negative things to say about the Seminoles
Former Florida State defensive tackle Grady Kelly spoke on a recent podcast about how he was committed to Indiana during the recruiting process, but the Seminoles came in and offered him at the last second and didn't even talk to him for the entire process.

He mentions that Florida State had "some dude leave," so they offered Grady Kelly. The former Colorado State transfer had 19 total tackles (2.5 for loss) and one sack during the 2024 season for the Seminoles.
To be honest, that Florida State squad was one of the worst teams in school history, and Kelly continuously showed why he wasn't in the rotation by not playing well. This isn't a good look because the defensive tackle was offered by the Seminoles on December 31, 2023, and he committed to Florida State on January 7, 2024.
I believe the story that was told in the podcast was because he didn't get enough reps at Florida State before transferring a year later to Michigan State to finish out his career. It just doesn't make any sense because Kelly had a week to decide if he wanted to come to play for the Seminoles, and still chose to do that. He could have stayed with Indiana. Nonetheless, we wish him nothing but the best.
