Florida State football has been struggling over the past two years with a combined 7-17 record. It caused the administration to evaluate everything that went on in the program, which resulted in them announcing head coach Mike Norvell would be retained for the 2026 season.

Norvell was on the hot seat ever since the road loss to Stanford, and that sentence is still difficult for most Seminole fans to stomach. This is Florida State, which is a place that the legendary Bobby Bowden built.

The program needs a spark, and the administration is hoping that Mike Norvell can create the magic that he had from the 2022 and 2023 seasons. However, some believe that it is a lost cause and that Florida State won't get out of the hole while he is employed.

The excitement has to be brought back to Florida State again. Some of the great energy was lost with LSU, which is a similar program to the Seminoles. They fired head coach Brian Kelly and brought in Ole Miss's Lane Kiffin. This was a hire that many around college football respected.

LSU brought a familiar face back to the staff in Ed Orgeron

Kiffin has been known to be a great offensive mind and recruiter, but it looks like his staff got even better on Wednesday as LSU hired former head coach Ed Orgeron, who had the legendary 2019 national championship with the Tigers.

Some think that the 2019 LSU squad was the best team of all-time, and Orgeron is coming back to Baton Rouge to be a special assistant coach for recruiting and defense. To be honest, it wouldn't be the worst thing to see Florida State hire former head coach Jimbo Fisher.

Fisher loves the Seminoles and can still recruit at a high level. He brought Florida State to elite heights with its national championship in 2013. Even though his tenure at Texas A&M was less than ideal, Fisher can still recruit with the best of them and loves Florida State University.

Before it was announced that the Seminoles would retain Norvell for 2026, some fans thought that Jimbo Fisher would be the choice to be the next head coach at Florida State. This would be a great chance for the Seminoles to take note from the LSU Tigers and hire former head coach Jimbo Fisher back on the staff.
