Florida State secured a commitment from talented in-state athlete Chayse Brown

This could be a solid grab for the Seminoles if he decides to stick to his commitment.

Florida State's 2027 recruiting class is in the middle of its official visit season right now, with the Seminoles set to host multiple prospects on campus this weekend in Tallahassee. However, good teams also set their foundation and build for the future.

This ensures sustainability, which is something that Florida State hasn't had in quite some time. With that said, the Seminoles need a spark of good energy. The program recently had a rough development in its 2027 recruiting class with four-star linebacker Gregory Batson backing off his pledge.

This was a tough one to see since the Seminoles need as much talent as they possibly can get. However, if Batson was going to look at other schools while being committed to Florida State, it was probably best for the coaching staff to cut ties now instead of dealing with the headache later on.

Florida State lands an unexpected commitment from talented in-state prospect Chayse Brown

It isn't just 2027 that Florida State is focusing its attention on, as they secured the commitment of Class of 2028 three-star athlete Chayse Brown, who pledged to the Seminoles.

While I can hear it now, many fans don't want to be invested in a prospect that is a whole year and a half away from signing the dotted line (or the tablet, who knows these days). There have been loyal members of Florida State's recruiting class, like Derwin James, back in the Jimbo Fisher days, when he even got a tattoo of the Seminoles on his body.

This isn't comparing Brown to Derwin James because the former Florida State Seminole was one of a kind, and the youngster has to do much more than just commit and say that he is with Florida State.

He is a three-star prospect right now with offers from other schools such as LSU, Louisville, Maryland, Nebraska, North Carolina, and Pittsburgh, but that ranking, as we know, can change in a heartbeat with the more camps that he goes to.

Chasyn Brown attended the Seminoles' 7-on-7 camp yesterday and was immediately offered. He got to soak in everything about Tallahassee. Even though Florida State has had six losing seasons in eight years, it is still a destination for many recruits.

It is a bit shocking that Brown decided to commit to Florida State this early because Mike Norvell is firmly on many people's hot seat talks, and the Seminoles could be looking at a new head coach in 2027 who could possibly not want his services.

Obviously, we at ChopChat want to root for everyone in the Garnet and Gold to be successful and never root for someone's downfall. However, the reality is that the program is in a weird spot, with the administration retaining Norvell and the fan base disliking how things are being operated.

Nonetheless, this was a solid get that the fan base should be happy about. We might have to revisit the status of this commitment in a year from today, but you never argue about a youngster wanting to come to Florida State and make a difference.
