Florida State's top edge target has been trending in favor of arch-rival Florida

This is a bummer for Florida State high school recruiting.

Florida State defensive ends coach Nick Williams has done a tremendous job of getting talented pass rushers to visit the campus and schedule their official visits for the summer. However, the Seminoles need the hard work to translate to more commitments.

Florida State already secured the likes of four-star defensive end Anthony Cavallaro from Largo, Florida, but the expectation is to get three to four prospects at the position in the class.

Coach Williams brings a fresh mindset to Florida State, where he is young and energetic on the recruiting trail. Florida State has not had a great track record of developing defensive linemen from the high school ranks (the hope is that the Desir Twins and Kevin Wynn can keep developing).

Florida State edge target Frederick Ards III received a prediction in favor of arch-rival Florida

Florida State has already scheduled official visits for prospects like four-star Sam LeJeune, four-star Santana Harvey, three-star T.K. Cunningham, and unranked Avrian Pauley. If the Seminoles grab both LeJeune and Harvey, then it would be a great pull for Florida State in the future of its room.

One other name to monitor is four-star defensive end Frederick Ards III from Jones High School in Orlando, Florida. He unofficially visited the Seminoles on January 31st, but Ards III hasn't scheduled his official visit. The defender has scheduled them to Alabama, Florida, Texas A&M, and South Carolina. He raved about new defensive ends coach Nick Williams.

However, most Florida State fans know the track history of how high school recruiting works. These could be recruitments that span all the way to the Early Signing Period, plus it is dependent on what Florida State does on the gridiron this season.

Ards III, unfortunately, received a prediction from Rivals' Chad Simmons in favor of the arch-rival Florida Gators. Seminole fans never want to see them get anything nice, especially when the program is welcoming in a new head coach.

While I don't want to come across as a Debbie Downer, head coach Mike Norvell is considered to be on the hot seat by many individuals. I am not out here holding my pitchforks for him to be fired, but I understand the expectation for the university.

Ards III could be more interested in the "new car smell" in Florida with head coach Jon Sumrall than having to roll the dice on Norvell and his job security.
