Now if this energy could be transferred to everyone else!

The last two years have been rough on Florida State fans, with a 7-17 record, as some players and coaches have seemingly not prioritized upholding the high standards in Tallahassee. Ultimately, we know that falls on Mike Norvell holding everyone accountable, and he’s gotten rid of some coaches over the past two years that have been subpar.

Norvell has made some solid hires in the second iteration of his staff, too: Herb Hand, Tim Harris Jr., and Tony White have improved some things. However, one of the newest hires, FSU defensive end coach Nick Williams, has hit the ground running. Williams has already landed a 2027 commitment from a blue-chip defensive end and has Florida State in the mix for some other top targets.

Recently, FSU mic’ed him up at practice, and it’s easy to see why he has a reputation is a good recruiter:

One of the things that will endear himself to Florida State fans is the pride he seems to exude about rocking the FSU logo on his chest. You can tell he’s glad to be in Tallahassee and his energy will likely have the attention of his players. Can he actually coach? I honestly don’t know, but if he can recruit good players, and get his unit to be player-led, that’s over half of the battle.

The defensive end position has been a glaring weakness for Florida State over the past two seasons, and Nick Williams has a chance to become a coach that fans develop a real love for if he can get that unit to produce in 2026.
