Florida State Seminoles baseball has opened the season strong, showing consistent offensive production alongside several standout wins. The Noles have controlled games through aggressive base running and timely hitting, often jumping ahead early and maintaining pressure throughout the lineup.

As a result, Florida State entered this weekend’s road series against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons baseball with an impressive 13-3 record. Pitching has also been a major strength for the Seminoles, with ace Wes Mendes anchoring the rotation while posting a sub-2.00 ERA and an impressive strikeout total through the first few weeks of the season.

Florida State opens the Wake Forest series with a run-rule win

This weekend’s series saw more of the same dominance from the Noles, as they swept their first ACC matchup against Wake Forest, finishing the weekend 3–0 and improving to 16–3 overall.

It was arguably one of Florida State’s most complete performances of the season, highlighted by a 10–0 run-rule victory to open the series, where pitcher Wes Mendes delivered a strong outing, and the offense produced five home runs. It was vital for the Seminoles to get back on track after their mid-week loss to the arch-rival Florida Gators.

Florida State get the confidence booster with securing the series sweep

After Friday’s performance, Saturday’s matchup turned into a tight defensive battle, with the Seminoles earning a 2-0 win to clinch the series. Florida State completed the sweep with a 12-6 victory on Sunday.

Throughout the weekend, the Seminoles’ pitching proved to be the difference, holding the Demon Deacons to a run total of only 6 and securing an early ACC road series victory. Pitcher Bryson Moore finished the job with his third win of the season. The Florida State offense overwhelmed Wake Forest, as they were able to string together eight runs in the first four innings.

The Seminoles return home for their next matchup against the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats on March 17th, with first pitch set for 6 p.m. EST on ACC Network Extra.
