Still time to add them, but the longer we wait.....

Florida State football has several new coaches on its staff and is still determining its recruiting strategy. They got several blue-chip players to visit over the past few weeks during its Junior Days and secured several official visits during the summer months.

Florida State already has nearly 20 official visits set across three different weekends in June. They have some solid blue-chip prospects set to visit at the skill positions. They have multiple wide receivers, running backs, and defensive backs with official visits set.

I trust that Herb Hand will have his offensive line unit up to par, and he already has two official visits set. Defensive end coach Nick Williams already has one defensive end commitment and another with an official visit set. FSU has a quarterback with an official visit set.

Florida State needs to continue building its trenches from high school recruiting

One of the biggest concerns is on the defensive front at defensive tackle. FSU has one official visit secured with top 100 prospect Sam LeJeune. However, he’s from Mississippi, and those players rarely leave to go out of state. He’ll cost a ton of money regardless, and definitely if they got him to leave the state, so that’s probably a waste of resources.

Admittedly, it’s not a great crop of defensive tackles in Florida and Georgia in this recruiting cycle. However, FSU needs to start getting higher-caliber players in the trenches. That’s one area where the transfer portal hasn’t produced talent in abundance. Most teams try to retain high-end defensive talent. There’s still time to make some moves, but the longer FSU waits, the more likely they’ll have to settle.
