Florida State baseball hasn't been the same team since superstar Myles Bailey suffered a season-ending injury. Bailey was the heart and soul of the squad and the main source of power hitting in the offense.

Just like Florida State football had to do in 2023 when quarterback Jordan Travis suffered a season-ending injury against North Alabama, the Seminoles have to find their spark. However, the Seminoles scratched and clawed to beat Florida and Louisville before getting plastered by Georgia in a meaningless Orange Bowl.

The Seminoles got embarrassed by top-ranked Georgia Tech, but bounced back in the next home series by sweeping Notre Dame. Florida State thought that it had momentum heading into Stanford. Much like the Seminoles' football team in 2025, the squad seemed to have the advantage but got utterly beaten down by the Cardinal as they were swept.

Fans were questioning whether head coach Link Jarrett could ever win Florida State's first coveted title. It is something that individuals have wanted even when the legendary Mike Martin was here. To be honest, Coach Jarrett is a tremendous coach and has all the tools to make the Seminoles successful.

Florida State looks to bounce back as they play South Florida at home on Wednesday

Florida State is back in Dick Howser Stadium on Wednesday afternoon, as they take on South Florida at 4 PM EST on the ACC Network. It has to feel so much better for Link Jarrett and his team to be back in Tallahassee after the Stanford sweep.

Florida State's Eli Putnam thought that he hit a solo home run to put his team up by a score of 4-3 in the ninth inning and give them a chance to win the game, but the bullpen ruined the chance and allowed a grand slam for Stanford to walk it off. Even though the Cardinal were already going to win the series, it was deflating for the team to endure that.

With that said, they could use the embarrassing moment as a learning lesson. It helps when you play a South Florida squad that was just swept by East Carolina. However, the Bulls are someone that the Seminoles should take lightly since they do possess a 28-15 overall record.

Link Jarrett needs pieces like Brody DeLamielleure, Gabe Fraser, Cal Fisher, Chase Williams, and Hunter Carns to step up on offense, as well as the pitching rotation to step up today against South Florida before taking on Pittsburgh this weekend at home.
