Myles Bailey will miss remainder of 2026 FSU baseball season after successful surgery

If it's the last time we see him in a FSU uniform, we wish him the best.

Florida State baseball lost its more impactful hitter, Myles Bailey, due to an injury suffered sliding into second base against the Duke Blue Devils.

Last night, I wrote he would likely not return for the 2026 season, and that fear was confirmed by FSU with a social media post on Sunday afternoon:

It's sad to see Bailey's season end like this. He was on pace to easily hit 20+ home runs and help FSU reach the College World Series again.

The injury bore an eerily similar resemblance to what ended Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis’s career. Both players suffered an injury to their ankle and sat on the ground looking at the gruesome injury likely knowing they were done for the season. Not to mention, both teams had aspirations to bring a national championship to FSU.

Jordan Travis rehabbed for quite some time but never regained his form before officially retiring without playing in an NFL game, despite being drafted by the NY Jets. The good news is that Bailey reportedly had successful surgery and plays a position that isn’t overly reliant on speed and the ability to change directions.

The biggest question is how long it’ll take Bailey to rehab, and how that will affect his Major League Baseball Draft status. Bailey was projected to be a top 100 selection and was moving up on the draft boards with how he was performing this season before the injury. If I had to guess, he’ll sign with whoever drafts him and get started on the journey to make a Major League team instead of returning to Florida State in 2027.

He’s already an advanced hitter and better than most give him credit for defensively. If that was the last time we saw Bailey in an FSU uniform, we’ve enjoyed the last year and a half. Bailey is an incredible local talent who’ll represent FSU to the fullest wherever he goes.
