Florida State baseball had a disappointing finish with the loss to St. John's in their regional. The Seminoles had high hopes for their season, but when superstar Myles Bailey had a lower-body injury while sliding to second ended his year, and Florida State knew that they were in trouble.

It became an issue when Bailey went down because the Seminoles' power hitting was nonexistent. It was so bad that Bailey was the leading home run hitter with 13, and he only played half the year. They had the pitching with Wes Mendes, Bryson Moore, and Trey Beard, which is one of the best in college baseball.

It makes Seminole fans miss the good ole' days when the Florida State offense had Myles Bailey, Alex Lodise, Max Williams, and Drew Faurot in 2025. The squad had the potential to be so successful, but was knocked out of the Super Regionals by Oregon State.

After the outcome against St. John's in the regional, Florida State knew that something needed to change. Head coach Link Jarrett is facing adversity after not making it to the College World Series. Florida State fans have seen Chase Williams, Noah Sheffield, Kelvyn Paulino Jr., and Hunter Carns enter the transfer portal this offseason.

Starting shortstop Gabe Fraser enters the transfer portal, and Link Jarrett makes it clear that the roster needs to be gutted

Florida State starting shortstop Gabe Fraser announced on Saturday that he will be entering the transfer portal. The Seminoles likely want to use this time to make changes.

Fraser played in 30 games this year for the Seminoles. This was a bit surprising since he transferred in from Arkansas the year before. He batted at a .303 average with one home run and 19 runs batted in.

The shortstop wasn't the reason that Florida State lost to St. John's in the two games, as he recorded his only home run against the Red Storm. Nonetheless, it might be time for the Seminoles to completely overhaul the infield, as they have much power in their bats this year.

It could be difficult for Coach Jarrett to lose a guy like Fraser to the transfer portal, but it might be best for both parties to move on.
