Link Jarrett and Florida State had a disappointing 2026 season, getting eliminated in the postseason without reaching the Super Regionals for the first time since Link Jarrett’s first season in 2023. Florida State has a lot of production to replace on the mound and in the batter’s box, more than most fans realize, as I wrote a few days ago.
We’ve already seen a handful of players announce intentions to enter the transfer portal, and nearly all were players FSU could afford to lose because they had not been very productive. FSU saw the first starter from the team to announce plans to enter the portal: Hunter Carns. That move surprised fans and created another hole to fill via the transfer portal.

There could be more portal entries in the coming days, but there are some position players Link Jarrett can’t afford to lose. Here are the top three:
- Brody DeLamielleure- The redshirt junior is draft eligible, but has battled injuries that have affected his production while at Florida State. When healthy, DeLamielleure is one of the better offensive options, capable of double-digit home runs and playing a solid outfield.
- John Stuetzer- The freshman had a solid season, hitting 10 home runs and driving in 43 runs. He scored 40 runs and stole 13 of 18 bases. Stuetzer is a talented kid with the potential to hit 15+ home runs and steal 20+ bases. I expect him to make a sizeable jump from year one to year two, especially if he can cut down on the strikeouts. He’s also a good defender in the outfield.
- Brayden Dowd- Dowd is draft-eligible and expected to be selected in the fourth or fifth round. The slot value for that range is between $400K-$750K. Dowd battled injuries this year but was the best all-around hitter for FSU, especially after Myles Bailey went down with his injury. Dowd could improve his draft stock if he can stay healthy and have a more productive senior year. He’s been consistent the last two years, so it’s fair to say you know what you’re going to get with him. I’d pay him close to slot value and keep him in Tallahassee for one more year.
Those three guys likely give you 10+ home runs each next year and a solid defensive outfield. We saw the transfer portal can be hit or miss, and FSU can’t afford to miss much with so many holes to fill.
