The college football season always has narratives spun by the media based on what they perceive teams to be in the preseason. The narrative going into the season opener between FSU and Alabama was that Alabama would steamroll the Noles.
However, FSU dominated that game, and the narrative became that Alabama wasn’t good anymore without Nick Saban. FSU went on to dominate East Texas A&M, and Alabama defeated some cupcake last week before thumping Wisconsin 38-14 on Saturday.
Now the narrative is starting to change, like we knew it would, from SEC supporters. The narrative now is if they played 10 times, Alabama would beat FSU nine of them. The only problem with that logic is that they lost, and it wasn’t close. You know it’s bad when a Florida Gator graduate and ESPN writer defends the Noles:
Is that Florida State win *still* over a bad Bama team or nah

It’s the same treatment FSU got when they defeated LSU in the 2022 and 2023 season openers. The detractors would always find some excuse for LSU and not give FSU the credit it deserved.
The good news is that FSU has at least one more potential major matchup on the schedule in the rival Miami Hurricanes. If both teams take care of business over the next couple of weeks, it’ll be a potential top 10 or top five matchup in Tallahassee. It’ll be just like the old days when those two teams were always among the elite and national title implications were on the line.
Hopefully, Alabama continues to win to make FSU's win look even more impressive. The SEC doesn't look as strong as the media hyped them to be in the preseason, but what else is new?
