Florida State football received phenomenal news that redshirt junior defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr. will return in 2025 for his senior season. This was a massive update for a Seminoles team that is trying to forget that 2024 even happened.
Florida State was led by starting defensive tackles Joshua Farmer and Darrell Jackson Jr. However, Farmer is now headed to the NFL and the Seminoles brought in a new defensive coordinator Tony White who runs a 3-3-5 defensive scheme.
There is so much discussion about Jackson Jr. returning next year that the fan base has lost sight of the new talent that they are bringing in at the position. Even though legendary coach Odell Haggins was moved to an off-the-field role, defensive line coach Terrance Knighton is expected to make his presence felt in Tallahassee.
The Seminoles' 2025 recruiting class was very successful, especially considering that they had a 2-10 record last year. One recruit that I am glad that Florida State obtained is four-star defensive Kevin Wynn from Greene County High School in Greensboro, Georgia.
Wynn was the highest-rated prospect in the Florida State recruiting class. When you turn on the film, you see a violent defender that wreaks havoc on opposing offensive players. That should translate to the collegiate level. He is listed at 332 pounds, which will do more than enough on the defensive line.
In the video above, you can see Wynn getting some work at practice for the Navy All-American Bowl. I know that it could be somewhat unrealistic to some individuals, but I believe that the Georgia native will get an opportunity to play significant snaps during the 2025 season.
Darrell Jackson Jr. will not be able to play a high volume of snaps, so Wynn will have to be ready when his number is called.
