DEFENSE: DL JAYSON JENKINS

It is all about the trenches in Tallahassee for the 2025 season. If Florida State wants to be successful on the gridiron this year, they have to win the line of scrimmage. I have already discussed redshirt senior offensive lineman Jacob Rizy, but I think it is now appropriate to bring up defensive lineman Jayson Jenkins.

Just like Rizy, Jenkins has battled adversity with injuries. He suffered a lower-body injury this offseason. The coaching staff was excited to bring in the former Tennessee transfer via the transfer portal to add to the defensive line room.

The injury was a bit nerve-racking as the coaching staff and fan base were thinking the worst, but Jenkins has made them breathe a sigh of relief as he looks healthy again. I know that there is hype for someone who only had two sacks at Tennessee, but he will be asked to have a bigger role at Florida State.

Coach Knighton had forced him out of the first scrimmage to ensure that he was healthy, and they went through every precaution, but the coaching staff talks about how productive Jenkins is. He will be one who primarily helps out at defensive end, but can also play defensive tackle if needed.
