BIG NEWS ABOUT JENKINS

Florida State football did not have the season that it wanted in 2024 with a 2-10 record. The Seminoles conducted its fall camp scrimmage late on Tuesday night. Head football coach Mike Norvell spoke with the media after the scrimmage.

One interesting tidbit that Coach Norvell stated was that redshirt junior defensive lineman Jayson Jenkins, who recorded nine tackles (3.5 for loss) and two sacks for the Volunteers in 2024, was a "full go" for the Seminoles next week.

Jenkins was anticipated to be missing some time during the season after suffering a lower-body injury. This was just the luck that Florida State football needed after the 2024 campaign.

DEFENSIVE LINE OUTLOOK FOR FSU FOOTBALL

Legendary coach Nick Saban declared the Seminoles had "one of the best defensive lines in college football" last offseason. This was the kiss of death for the program, as they obviously didn't have the season that they wanted.

Florida State picked up pass rushers such as James Williams, Deamontae Diggs, Deante McCray, and Jayson Jenkins this offseason to ensure that the Seminoles had options on the defensive line. I thought that pieces like Patrick Payton, Marvin Jones Jr., Tomiwa Durojaiye, and Sione Lolohea would be solid.

However, I was wrong about that assessment, but this is a new year for a program that is looking to get back to stability. With the news that Jenkins is being a "full go" next week, this means that the pressure on James Williams is relieved to a degree, with a capable body who has SEC experience that can play defensive end and defensive tackle.
