Florida State's recruiting class is not where it needs to be, ranking 47th in the 247Sports Composite. This isn't Florida Atlantic that we are talking about. This is Florida State University. The place that the legendary Bobby Bowden built.
The fan base seems to be checked out, as head coach Mike Norvell was given another chance by the administration to coach the Seminoles in 2026. There is an ounce of hope that Norvell can get it back together, as he did in 2022 and 2023.
However, high school recruiting could be an issue going forward: how will the highly touted prospects sign with Florida State if they don't know whether Mike Norvell will be the head coach in 2027? With that said, I have to give props to the coaching staff for landing four-star linebacker/safety Jernard Albright, as he flipped on Sunday from South Carolina to the Seminoles.
High school recruiting hasn't been a bright spot for Florida State lately, even when they were winning numerous football games in 2022 and 2023, so the narrative has to change quickly. I am all about positivity for the Garnet and Gold, so here are five prospects that Florida State must land to elevate its 2027 recruiting class.
4-star RB Jayden Miles
Let's start with an easier grab with four-star running back target Jayden Miles from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Miles officially visited the Seminoles during the weekend of May 29th. He already received a crystal ball prediction in favor of Florida State, but the job isn't finished, as he officially visited Ohio State this past weekend. The Buckeyes won't be afraid to obtain Miles's commitment, as they don't have a running back in the fold for them. Florida State has to seal the deal immediately.
Update (as of 6/8/2026): Jayden Miles has committed to Florida State.

4-star WR Sean Green
Florida State is in contention for plenty of prospects, but this is one that their quarterback commit, Logan Flaherty, is salivating over. The Seminoles don't have a pass catcher in their class right now, and four-star Sean Green would be a perfect fit to fill the need. Georgia is also heavily in the mix for him as he officially visited last weekend. The Seminoles didn't land four-star Jabari Watkins or four-star Cam Wade, so the pressure to add Green is there. He and Flaherty were seen wearing the all-white uniform combinations together on the visit, and that usually foreshadows a commitment.
4-star IOL DaJohn Yarborough
Florida State doesn't have any offensive linemen so far in its 2027 class. Assistant coach Herb Hand has been at several Power Four stops in his coaching career, so the track record is there. Quarterback commit Logan Flaherty also needs protection in the pocket. Four-star interior offensive lineman is one of the few at the position who are officially visiting Florida State (on June 12th), so the Seminoles need to land him. Yarborough does live in Arizona, but the Seminoles should be able to land him over California, Mississippi State, and Washington, if they truly want him in the class.
4-star DB Ta'Shawn Poole
Florida State had the unfortunate news of losing out on four-star defensive back MeKhi Williams. He flipped his services to Wisconsin. The Seminoles now have to turn their attention to four-star safety Ta'Shawn Poole from Macon, Georgia, who will be officially visiting the program on the weekend of June 12th. The top-100 prospect is being pursued by Tennessee, Miami, and Clemson, so the competition is stiff.
4-star DE Sam LeJeune
Florida State has two commitments on the defensive line with four-star Anthony Cavallaro and three-star Eric Vaulx Jr. Assistant coach Nick Williams is a rockstar recruiter that come from Syracuse, and the Seminoles have reaped the benefits of having him. However, three-star defensive lineman Jason Lewis could be the next recruit to commit to Florida State. It makes me wonder where four-star defensive end Sam LeJeune is on the totem pole, which I believe that he should be higher. We will see if LeJeune still officially visits Florida State this weekend.
