Florida State's 2027 recruiting class is not used to pleasant surprises these days, as many fans are ready to throw up their pitchforks and fire head coach Mike Norvell. However, the administration gave him the green light to coach for 2026.

The biggest obstacle with everything is his job stability. Many analysts have Norvell at the top of their hot board talks. With that said, the Seminoles still have a chance to put their heads down and put the pressure on for the high school ranks.

The 2027 recruiting class hasn't been where the fan base wants so far, as they ranked outside of the top 50 going into Sunday morning. However, the coaching staff had plenty of prospects on campus this weekend for official visits, so something was bound to happen.

Florida State finally got the good news that it deserved on the high school recruiting trail

We highlighted a few prospects from this weekend that could potentially commit, but the first line of damage came from Class of 2027 four-star safety/linebacker Jernard Albright, as he flipped from South Carolina to Florida State.

This was much-needed good news from Florida State, especially after South Carolina was able to pick up four-star running back Bradyn Tyson a couple of months ago. Head coach Shane Beamer's hot seat talk could be elevated if he doesn't start off on the right foot in 2026 as well, so it will be interesting to see if the Seminoles can take advantage if Florida State performs up to their expectations.

Albright decided to officially visit Florida State this weekend, and the trip had plenty to do with his announcement to flip on Sunday. Say what you will about Coach Norvell. He has developed a great family-like environment in the locker room. However, as they always say, winning cures everything. If winning isn't happening at a place like Florida State, it is difficult for recruits to trust.

Albright will be recruited to play linebacker at Florida State, and he recorded 50 tackles, two interceptions, and three pass deflections during his junior season (according to MaxPreps). This will be a tremendous top-200 prospect to build around in the recruiting class.
