Florida State's 2027 recruiting class had a massive win on Sunday when they were able to flip four-star linebacker/safety Jernard Albright from South Carolina to the Seminoles. It is never easy in recruiting, as four-star wide receiver prospect Cam Wade decided to pledge to Virginia Tech.
However, it shouldn't leave a sour taste in the mouths of Seminole fans, as three-star defensive lineman Jason Lewis officially visited Florida State this past weekend.
Lewis already received two crystal ball predictions in favor of Florida State. This is an encouraging development for the Seminoles, who continue to grab talented defensive linemen after acquiring eight of them during the 2026 cycle.
Fans might look at Jason Lewis' star ranking and think, "He is just a three-star. Florida State is turning into a three-star U!" However, the Kissimmee, Florida native produced at a high level during his junior season when he had 37 tackles (12 for loss), and seven sacks (according to MaxPreps).
Defensive lineman Jason Lewis should be a Florida State Seminole sooner rather than later
Lewis is a defensive lineman who should be in their recruiting class. While I do believe that four-star Sam LeJeune should be their number one priority right now, I believe that the Florida native should be locked in before he goes to a school such as Syracuse.
Speaking of Syracuse, the defensive lineman mentioned in his exit interview with the media that he still expects to take his official visit with the Orange, but it should be much to worry about as he makes his decision in July.
Jason Lewis has always favored Florida State, and that was no different after the interview, where he mentioned that the Seminoles were at the top. This is one of the easiest layups for the coaching staff because the coaching staff has been pursuing him for a while, and the only reason that he wouldn't commit would be because they value other prospects higher.
Florida State's recruiting efforts are showing up now, and the fan base is starting to see pay it off.
