Explosive Plays
Gus Malzahn wants to establish the running game and then hit you over the top with big vertical plays. FSU hit several during the course of the Wake Forest game. The impressive thing is that Wake Forest had been good at preventing tons of explosive plays.
Duce Robinson averaged 29.6 yards per catch (five receptions). Micahi Danzy averaged 33.5 yards per catch (two receptions). Randy Pittman Jr. averaged 16 yards per catch (two receptions).

FSU only averaged 3.8 yards per rush, but several of those rushing attempts came near the goal line, as evidenced by the five rushing touchdowns.
When FSU stays ahead of the chains and establishes the running game, it opens up the vertical passing game. It was textbook Gus Malzahn, and the players executed the plays at a high level.
FSU got the ball to its playmakers and they did the work. I dare say it looked like an offense built for playmakers!
