LONGTIME COMMIT SHUTS DOWN RECRUITMENT
College football recruiting is so backward nowadays, where prospects will be flipping just because it is cloudy outside. I am just kidding, but it is getting a bit out of hand.
Recruiting isn't for the weak, as the Seminoles' fan base has been through its fair share of heartbreaks. As productive as this weekend has been with recruiting, some individuals were thinking that bad news was on the horizon.
With that said, the "Dark Side Noles" have to remain silent for now, as four-star wide receiver commit Darryon Williams announced in his exit interview on Sunday afternoon that he would be shutting down his recruitment.
EXPANDED THOUGHTS
There are fans out there who probably wonder why this is a big deal because he has been committed to the program for a while now, but that is the nature of recruiting. Since Williams has been through a new coaching staff, some wondered if he would have ventured to the arch-rival Florida Gators.
However, the Tampa native made the wise decision to stick around in Tallahassee. In the exit meeting, he mentioned to the media that he would be utilized in Gus Malzahn's offense as the do-it-all guy for them in jet sweeps, slants, and go routes.
I wondered where the coaching staff would put him since he plays wide receiver and defensive back, but that visit seemed to have given Williams clarity on the position that he was playing.
I know that some fans are worried about four-star linebacker commit Karon Maycock making his final decision in July, but it looks as though Williams is ready to suit up in the Garnet and Gold. With the reassurance of the pass catcher, I wonder if that ruins the possibility of four-star wide receiver target Devin Carter flipping back to Florida State from Auburn.
