Florida State football's 2027 recruiting class had a load of commitments in the fold as of late, with four-star running back Jayden Miles, four-star wide receiver Sean Green, four-star linebacker Jernard Albright, three-star quarterback Logan Flaherty, three-star linebacker Olrick Johnson III, and three-star defensive end Eric Vaulx Jr.
The Seminoles have ten commitments, and it is ranked outside the top-40, so there is plenty of work to do so that the 2027 recruiting class can be where the fan base and coaching staff want it to be. Obviously, winning on the field will be the best method for immediate success.
To be honest, I am surprised that there have been no offensive linemen who have pledged to Florida State in this class yet. The group under assistant coach Herb Hand was solid during the 2025 season, but they are having to replace the likes of Micah Pettus and Luke Petitbon.
The Seminoles have been busy in the transfer portal with offensive linemen, just like they have been with quarterbacks. While it isn't always a bad idea to go to the portal for talent, the offensive line is a position group that has to build continuity.
We didn't see much continuity from the haul of last season until fall camp because of injuries. We will see how it factors in this season. Florida State went back to the transfer portal to grab more immediate needs, but they at least grabbed a few of them that had multiple years, like Troy's Paul Bowling.
The homegrown players on the roster, like Andre Otto, Sandman Thompson, Jonathan Daniels, and Jayden Todd, could be factors for the Seminoles in 2026, but the track record indicates that there is a slimmer chance.
This has to play a factor in why more offensive linemen aren't showing interest in Florida State because Coach Herb Hand has been around several Power 4 programs and is considered a good developer.
Florida State should be going all-in on four-star offensive lineman target DaJohn Yarborough
Florida State doesn't have many offensive linemen prospects visiting Tallahassee this summer for official visits. This is concerning to me because I believe that football games are won through the trenches.
Even though three-star quarterback commit Logan Flaherty isn't in town to help the coaching staff recruit this weekend, and it is a smaller group of official visitors on campus, Florida State should be pushing all of its chips in for four-star offensive lineman target DaJohn Yarborough.
Yarborough is from Chandler, Arizona, so he isn't a Florida or Georgia native, but his frame at 6'5" and 340 pounds on the interior of the offensive line should be a take every single day of the week. Unfortunately, other schools such as Mississippi State, California, and Washington are involved in the recruitment. The good news for Florida State is that Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, etc. aren't pursuing him heavily.
The offensive lineman hasn't announced a commitment date and is supposed to be officially visiting the Huskies for his last trip of the summer. With that said, the Seminoles have to shut him down this weekend in Tallahassee.
Florida State has been on Yarborough for a while, where they offered him in June of last year. The Seminoles cannot afford to leave the summer without any offensive linemen because it is harder to flip prospects after they pledge to another school. Florida State and Herb Hand have to get the job done with the Arizona native.
