Florida State football did not have the 2024 and 2025 seasons that it wanted, with a combined seven wins. However, the Seminoles are banking on head coach Mike Norvell and the squad to return to their 2022 and 2023 form, when they posted 23 victories.
The administration decided to bring Norvell back for another season. While they might bring clarity to the players on the roster for the 2026 campaign, it leaves high school recruits in limbo for who will lead the charge for the year after.
As a result, the Seminoles have only six commitments in the 2027 cycle, with LSU heavily involved with four-star defensive back pledge Mekhi Williams. Times are tough right now on the recruiting front, but here are three targets that are most likely to commit during the official visit season in the summer.
1. DL Sam LeJeune
Florida State has the pledge of four-star defensive end Anthony Cavallaro, but assistant coach Nick Williams wants to bring more talented defensive linemen into the class. One name that continues to rave about the Seminoles is four-star Sam LeJeune from Poplarville, Mississippi. He is officially visiting Florida State on the weekend of June 12th. His high school teammate, four-star running back Ty Keys, committed to Miami, and the Seminoles cannot afford to lose LeJeune to another school.
2. OL Jatori Williams
Four-star offensive lineman Jatori Williams from Phenix City, Alabama, is another prospect who talked glowingly about Florida State and has visited campus plenty of times. The 6'5" and 320-pound mauler has Georgia, Miami, and Kentucky also involved in his recruitment. However, Williams has made it known that Florida State leads in his recruitment with his June 12th visit on the horizon.
3. WR Jabari Watkins
Florida State wide receivers coach Tim Harris Jr. has done a phenomenal job with acquiring pass catchers on the recruiting trail. They already have dynamic playmakers such as Devin Carter and Jasen Lopez that should have plenty of burn this year, but this should attract more 2027 prospects to choose the Seminoles. Four-star Jabari Watkins from Thomas County Central High School in Thomasville, Georgia, should be at the top of the list after he named Florida State his top school.
