CB Greedy Vance Jr.
Florida State has benefitted greatly from the services of redshirt senior nickel cornerback Jarrian Jones, who is one of the top defenders in the country when in man coverage (according to Pro Football Focus). The Seminoles’ passing defense as a whole has been remarkable where they have made opposing quarterbacks heavily consider their options before releasing the football.
Coming into the 2023 season, Florida State was returning starting experience at the cornerback position with redshirt senior Renardo Green, redshirt senior Jarrian Jones, and redshirt junior Greedy Vance Jr. This gave first-year defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. a variety of veteran options to work with.
One player that emerged in spring practices was Greedy Vance Jr. His aggressive nature in man coverage made him stand out amongst the pack. Unfortunately, with so many options at the position, there have been instances where the Louisiana native has not played as much.
Given Florida State’s ability to rotate in defensive backs, there could be an opportunity to get the Louisville transfer some burn against his former team.
