S Akeem Dent

It has certainly been an up-and-down 2023 campaign for the redshirt senior safety Akeem Dent. However, he made his presence in his final Sunshine Showdown. Defensive coordinator Adam Fuller keyed up some pivotal defensive blitzes, which included Dent (that was not an unnecessary roughness penalty on the sack).

The Pahokee (FL) native was second in the team in total tackles (7) and played exceptionally well in coverage. During the 2022 season, the veteran defensive back struggled with staying on the field due to injuries. However, it seems like he saved his best performance for last. With the offense being stagnant at times with backup quarterback Tate Rodemaker at the helm, the defense will have to flex its muscles.

It is a great sign that Dent is showcasing his skill set during this pivotal stretch of the season.
