FSU football: Keys to victory versus Florida Gators
Identify blitzes from UF defense
This will be a significant test for the Florida State offensive unit as they will trot out redshirt junior quarterback Tate Rodemaker with redshirt senior signal caller Jordan Travis suffering a season-ending injury. The Valdosta (GA) native has had a successful 2023 campaign where 20 of his 31 passes (64.5%) for 376 yards with five touchdowns and zero interceptions.
While Rodemaker is very athletic (as mentioned by head football coach Mike Norvell in his mid-week presser), he only has four rushing attempts for eight yards this season. He does not look to utilize his legs unless he has to. The redshirt junior likes to look through progressions.
With that being said, this Florida defense will try to be very aggressive with getting after the signal caller, especially in the first quarter to set the tone. The offensive line for the Seminoles will have to be able to identify the blitzers and give him a clean pocket to throw from. This will mark Tate Rodemaker’s second career start for the Seminoles.
