FSU football: QB Jordan Travis releases an official statement
FSU football defeated the North Alabama Lions on Senior Night in a packed-out Doak Campbell Stadium this past Saturday.
It was supposed to be a memorable occasion for the Seminoles as the 2013 national championship football team was in attendance for the 10-year anniversary. Plus, the 2023 version of Florida State possessed a 10-0 record and is in the thick of the College Football Playoff race.
Unfortunately, the warm and fuzzy feelings came to a screeching halt as redshirt senior quarterback Jordan Travis suffered an apparent lower-body injury late in the first quarter that resulted in the West Palm Beach (FL) native being carted off the field.
Travis was in consideration for the Heisman Trophy where he completed 207 of his 324 passes (63.9%) for 2,755 yards and 20 touchdowns with only two interceptions.
As most of the Seminole faithful know, the signal caller has been through heightened levels of adversity during his collegiate career where he transferred from Louisville to Florida State, was behind other quarterbacks on the depth chart, and even considered not playing football anymore.
On Monday morning, Travis released an official statement on social media stating that his Seminole playing career is over.
This is absolutely devastating for a player like him. Travis is someone who was a leader on this football team and meant so much to this university’s football program. While he will not be the fourth Heisman Trophy winner in program history, he will always be someone that the fanbase will cherish and remember for bringing FSU back to the national relevance again.
As Travis said, Florida State still has its goals in front of them. They have to play the likes of their arch-rival Florida Gators then will face Louisville in the ACC Championship Game in Charlotte, North Carolina.
We at ChopChat believe in redshirt junior quarterback Tate Rodemaker’s ability to be successful and get Florida State an opportunity to compete for the College Football Playoff.
