Schedule

Folks want to penalize FSU for their win over the No. 5 LSU, which took place in week one. FSU held that No. 1 offense to 17 points before garbage time.

LSU has since lost two more times, but those losses came against Ole Miss and Alabama. The former was a one-score loss on the road, and the latter, LSU lost starting QB Jayden Daniels to an injury early in the fourth quarter of that game.

However, LSU has beat No. 11 Missouri by 10 points. That’s a better win than anything Oregon has done, which is the game Washington has made its name on(and probably should have lost that game).

Aside from Oregon, Washington has beaten a USC team that’s no longer ranked and Utah, whose best win is a two-point win over that USC team.

Washington beat Utah by one touchdown last week. Oregon defeated the Utah team 35-6.
I believe the committee thinks Oregon will beat Washington when they rematch, which is another reason they haven’t moved Washington up from No. 5, with Oregon at No. 6.

If we want to look at recent play. Washington went to life and death with two-win Stanford a couple of weeks ago. FSU hasn’t been in danger of losing to anyone near the end of games in recent weeks.
