No. 4 best Florida State basketball NBA career: George McCloud

As a 6-foot-6 guard, McCloud developed into a lethal scorer in college. He was the Metro Conference Player of the Year at FSU in the 1988-89 season. It took some time, but he found that scoring touch in the NBA too.

McCloud was the seventh overall pick to the Indiana Pacers in the 1989 NBA Draft, but never really found his stride in four seasons there. In 1993-94 he played overseas in Italy and it seemed like his NBA career was potentially over, but the best was yet to come.

In Italy, he found his shooting stroke and signed with the Dallas Mavericks the next year. That season he played sparingly, but shot 38% from three. It was the next year, 1995-96 when he led the NBA in three-point attempts, making 38% of his 8.6 attempts per game. He played in 79 games, starting 63 of them, and averaged a career-high 18.9 points.

The best moments in his career came in Dallas, but following his three-year stint, he bounced around from the Lakers to the Suns and finished his 12-year career with Denver in 2002.
