FSU football: Where should the Noles be ranked in CFP rankings?
FSU football has enjoyed a successful 2023 season where they have beaten teams such as LSU, Clemson (Dabo Swinney losing his fanbase?), Duke, and others.
The Seminoles rank No. 4 in the most recent AP poll that was released earlier this week. However, the College Football Playoff rankings matter the most in terms of deciding Florida State’s post-season destination.
The fanbase has not had to worry much about the College Football Playoff rankings because the program went through some all-time lows from the time period of 2018-2021 (and even 2017 after the season-opening loss to Alabama).
However, head football coach Mike Norvell and company accomplished a 10-win season in 2022 and have put the college football world on notice this season where they possess an 8-0 record.
While the Seminoles have regular season games of Pittsburgh, Miami, North Alabama, and Florida on the schedule (plus a potential ACC Championship Game matchup), FSU still has to handle its business accordingly.
The College Football Playoff ranking show will be premiering tonight (10/31/2023) at 7 PM EST on ESPN. As a result, we at ChopChat decided to share our thoughts about where Florida State will be featured in the rankings.

The majority of the ChopChat staff feel as though the Seminoles will be ranked at No. 4 (the same ranking as the AP poll). It will be interesting to see if Florida State can elevate itself to the No. 2 or No. 3 position. Given the uncertainty of Georgia (without TE Brock Bowers), Michigan (sign stealing allegations), and Ohio State (shaky offensive line), it isn’t out of the realm of possibility.
Most of the doubters, that discuss about the Seminoles, suggest that they have not played anyone. While some of the opponents on Florida State’s schedule have started to diminish their resume, this football team continues to find a way to win (even if it is a sloppy victory versus Boston College).
Moral of the discussion is that if Florida State wins out, they are in the College Football Playoff.
