The Florida State defense has been solid this season. However, the rushing defense has been a bit worrisome at times where they rank No. 75 in the FBS in rushing yards allowed (149.3 rushing yards per game).

It is understandable to factor in that the Seminoles’ defense is missing such a pivotal player on the interior of the defensive line such as Darrell Jackson Jr. However, FSU still has players such as Fabien Lovett Sr., Braden Fiske, Joshua Farmer, and Malcolm Ray at the defensive tackle position.

FSU’s defense dealt with heightened adversity on the first defensive possession of the game where they allowed 53 rushing yards, which included a 42-yard rushing touchdown by running back Jaquez Moore to give the Blue Devils a 7-0 early lead.

However, the Seminoles’ defense started to fleet its muscles in the running game at times with the help of redshirt senior defensive tackle Fabien Lovett Sr. It seems as though the former Mississippi State transfer had been somewhat limited this season with his snap count. But he had his performance against Duke, where he recorded four total tackles (two tackles for loss).
