2. FSU vs. Clemson (2023)

The Clemson Tigers have been a model of consistency for the ACC as they have won the conference title seven of the last eight years. Head football coach Dabo Swinney has had the Seminoles’ number for quite some time where FSU has not defeated the Tigers since 2014.

However, it seemed like everything was falling into place for head football coach Mike Norvell and company during his fourth season in Tallahassee. The Clemson Tigers were breaking in a new quarterback in Cade Klubnik, and they lost their season opener to the Duke Blue Devils by a score of 28-7. It should be worth noting that beating the Tigers in Death Valley is a difficult task, where they had won 40 of their last 41 contests on their home turf. For reference, the Seminoles had not beaten Clemson on the road since they did so in 2013 by a score of 51-14.

Quarterback Jordan Travis and wide receiver Keon Coleman were on a mission to change the narrative surrounding the Noles’ struggles against their ACC foe. Travis completed 21 of his 37 passes for 289 yards and three total touchdowns, while Coleman had five receptions for 86 yards and two touchdowns in the 31-24 overtime thriller. Let’s not forget about linebacker Kalen DeLoach‘s massive hit on Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik, which tied the game at 24 late in the third quarter to give the Seminoles life again.

This game showed the ACC that there is a new sheriff in town when it comes to the pecking order of the conference.
