FSU football defeated the Clemson Tigers by a score of 31-24 in overtime on Saturday afternoon.

The Seminoles’ football program has finally taken the next step after previously not beating the Tigers since they did so back in 2014.

Some individuals may suggest FSU is officially “back” (except for ESPN’s Heather Dinich and FOX’s RJ Young). However, as head football coach Mike Norvell alludes to his team, they need to focus on getting better as a team.

They cannot worry about the outside noise of what the general public says about them.

Example: The horrific No. 5 AP poll ranking given to the Seminoles after beating Clemson.

One player who seems unfazed by the outside noise is redshirt senior quarterback Jordan Travis, who has faced a ton of adversity during his time in Tallahassee, from almost quitting football to battling out with the likes of transfer McKenzie Milton to becoming a Heisman Trophy candidate.

After enrolling with the Seminoles in 2019, there were some fans who thought the West Palm Beach (FL) native could not throw the football 20+ yards downfield and was just a glorified running back.

It seems like Travis continues to prove those doubters as he developed his skill set as a passer, where he completed 226 of his 353 passes for 3,214 yards and 24 touchdowns with only five interceptions in 2022.

He has continued to elevate his play this season, where he has completed 74 of his 121 passes for 1,028 yards and 10 touchdowns with only one interception.

During Saturday’s victory over Clemson, Travis broke Florida State’s school career record for touchdowns responsible with 82, passing Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Chris Weinke.

Head football coach Mike Norvell, offensive coordinator Alex Atkins, quarterbacks coach Tony Tokarz, and even former offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham (now the head football coach at Arizona State) certainly exemplified the utmost confidence in his ability to be successful as a collegiate quarterback.

While the talented quarterback does not focus on individual accolades, it is quite remarkable to think about how far he has come in his development as a passer.
