Special Teams

I gave FSU special teams props after the LSU game, and they continue to look improved over last year.

Ryan Fitzgerald made a 35-yard field goal right down the middle with ease. Alex Mastromanno does what he does.

Winston Wright had a solid kickoff return for 31-yards, and Keon Coleman took some chance field punts, returning one for 19-yards.

Deuce Spann looks like a gazelle while running out there.

There was one miscue on kickoff return coverage, where Southern Mississippi ran a kickoff 29-yards, but they were excellent aside from that, with Southern Mississippi averaging 20.5 return yards on four attempts.

FSU only punted twice, one was a touchback, and the other wasn’t returned. FSU has some athletes on this unit and looks markedly improved overall thus far.
