Use These Games Differently

Mike Norvell has forgotten more football than I know, but I’m not a fan of how he used the first quarter or half to experiment so much.

I wasn’t like some fans on social media thinking this would be a replay of Jacksonville State. However, I did think we played around too early and wished he had built up a sizeable lead before going to some of the experimentation type stuff.

It just felt like we were playing backyard football with Jordan Travis running around trying to make plays and forcing balls to guys.

There was a stark contrast to Saturday’s game and the LSU game. It was clear the coaching staff treated the game like a scrimmage, which says a lot that FSU football can do that stuff again.

I know Norvell is looking towards the future and giving guys an opportunity to make plays when the game isn’t in garbage time, and I respect that.

However, I wish we’d get a comfortable lead and then give them all the time in the world to do what they want to do.
