No. 6 FSU soccer didn’t take the easy road to begin their 2023 campaign. The Noles began their season last week with a hard-fought 2-1 victory on the road against a gritty Texas A&M team.

Their tour through the Lonestar State wasn’t over as they traveled to Garvey Rosenthal Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas, to take on the No. 9 TCU Horned Frogs Sunday night.

It was another hard-fought physical match in the Texas heat, with the game totaling two yellow cards in the first half alone. It was a stalemate at the half, with only one shot on goal, though FSU controlled possession quite a bit.

The second half saw FSU pick up the intensity in the second half with a shot on goal that was just wide only a few minutes in. The Noles broke through in the 70th minute on a goal by Taylor Huff.

That play was sheer dribbling ability and speed with an accurate kick from just outside the box. I must say that kick had some juice on it too! That goal shifted momentum big time as the Noles added a second goal a couple of minutes later.

This play was a beautiful ball by Jody Brown to Onyi Echegini into the box. Echegini controlled the pass with a defender on her back and beat the goalie from close quarters for her first goal this season.

The second goal effectively ended the game as the FSU defense shut the Horned Frogs down. TCU only had one shot on goal(nine shots total) in the game. It has been a great start to the season with the team somewhat limited, and the Noles will be out of action until September 3rd for their first home game against USF at 2 p.m. ET. The game will air on the ACC Network.
