FSU football: Thoughts on five-star KJ Bolden recruitment
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football had a monster July with its 2024 recruiting class, ascending to the No. 6 class nationally with 10 new commits, including their second five-star in Charles Lester.
However, the Noles may not be done, as Mike Norvell hinted at more recruiting fireworks in August. Most folks that follow recruiting likely associate that with five-star athlete KJ Bolden, who has a commitment date set for August 5th.
Georgia has been thought to be the long-time leader in the clubhouse, but FSU has steadily chipped away at this recruitment, getting him onto campus several times for multiple-day unofficial visits.
Auburn has gotten him on campus a few times this spring, including a visit a few days ago, just one week before his commitment date. However, it was a visit with teammates similar to what Charles Lester did with visiting Colorado before coming to FSU.
While Auburn has been hot on the recruiting trail lately, it feels like they have only just appeared in this recruitment buzz-wise. Maybe it’s because they got the last visit before he’ll announce. However, what piqued my curiosity was the report a few weeks back about FSU gaining momentum in this recruitment.
Bolden officially visited Clemson (June 2), Georgia (June 9), Ohio State (June 16), and Alabama (June 23).
As of now, he has one official visit remaining, and 247 Sports indicates that the official visit is with Auburn on September 29, or October 6th.
In the interview below, Bolden states he already has a school in mind(and this is before the Auburn visit).
So the question is would KJ Bolden commit to FSU on August 5th without taking an official visit? If so, that likely means that official visit with Auburn likely becomes an FSU visit during the season.
If he commits to Georgia as most folks have thought throughout the process, he’d still have the one official visit left, and who would get it?
I think it’s possible Bolden could commit to FSU without taking the OV. He’s been on campus multiple times and for multiple days. FSU has some star power in its recruiting class with two-five stars and 12 four-star players. I like he has one remaining regardless what he decides Saturday.
I don’t think Mike Norvell made that social media post for nothing, and FSU very well could add KJ Bolden in a few days. It doesn’t means as much nowadays when recruits mention a school is their dream school, but that’s the case with Bolden and FSU.
We’ll find out in a few days, and if FSU lands Bolden? That’s going to put a lot of folks on notice, with FSU beating Georgia for multiple players in this recruiting cycle, including two five-star players and the top running back from the Peach State.
