FSU football: Four-star OL target Manasse Itete decommits from USC
FSU football has already secured two offensive linemen in this 2024 recruiting cycle in four-star offensive tackle Jonathan Daniels and three-star offensive tackle Tye Hylton.
However, it seems offensive line coach Alex Atkins is not finished constructing his position unit for the future.
FSU received a wonderful change in development on Thursday afternoon as four-star offensive tackle Manasse Itete from Central Catholic High School in Modesto, California, has received three flip crystal ball predictions from the Trojans to the Seminoles.
On Friday morning, Itete has decommitted from USC and announced that he will make his new commitment on Saturday, July 29th.
This news is a surprise since Itete committed to the USC Trojans shortly after he officially visited their campus on June 2-4. The talented offensive lineman resides in the California area.
When it comes to Itete’s relationship with the Seminoles, it all comes down to the connection with General Manager Darrick Yray. He got him to visit Tallahassee for a multi-day unofficial visit from April 14-16.
The momentum started to be in favor of the Seminoles. He had an official visit scheduled with Florida State for the loaded June 23rd weekend. However, he ultimately decided to cancel that visit after committing to USC.
In all honesty, the offensive tackle class during the 2024 recruiting cycle is a bit weaker. The Seminoles are likely to only acquire three offensive linemen (maybe four if the right fit comes along) in this class before turning their attention to the transfer portal for veteran acquisitions.
While Florida State has a ton of talent in the position room, the offensive line will losing at least offensive tackle Bless Harris as well as interior offensive linemen Casey Roddick and D’Mitri Emmanuel as they exceed their eligibilities.
Those are three potential offensive lineman starters for this upcoming season. As a result, Atkins and company need to continue to acquire talent in the room to counteract the losses. Itete could be a phenomenal piece in the building blocks of the future.
