FSU football: 3-star DE Elias Williams releases top 10 schools
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football got a big commitment earlier this month when four-star defensive end DD Holmes chose the Noles.
FSU would like to take at least one more defensive end in the 2024 recruiting cycle since they’ll likely lose Jared Verse and could lose Patrick Payton if he has another standout season.
One of their top targets is four-star Booker Pickett Jr., but another interesting target is three-star Elias Williams.
He is a player the Noles offered in early February and have gotten on campus twice since, including the FSU Elite camp in June.
It looks like they are still evaluating him, as he expects to be back on campus at the end of the month.
Friday, Williams listed his top 10 schools, which included FSU football:
Williams holds 20 offers and officially visited four schools last month. Missouri, Indiana, UCF, and Kansas. He ranks as the No. 842 player and the No. 57 DE nationally.
He ranks as the No. 115 player in the Sunshine State. Williams has good size at 6’4″ and 255 pounds, with solid production in his last two years in high school. He had 51 tackles, 13.5 tackles for a loss, and seven sacks.
UCF is probably the school he has visited the most, aside from FSU. Williams has characteristics FSU likes in that he plays more than one sports(basketball) and plays offense(TE/FB) for his high school team.
While at the FSU Elite camp, Williams mentioned he plans to announce his commitment on December 1st and expects to use his final official visit for the FSU/Miami game. FSU is the top program among the top 10 listed Friday.
It’s the only program among the top 10 nationally going into the 2023 preseason, and has had a ton of success putting defensive ends in the NFL the last few years. It’ll be interesting to see what Williams says after his visit next week.
