FSU softball had a remarkable run to return to the WCWS earlier this year after a disappointing upset in the Tallahassee Regional in 2022.

That was a large talking point for the media as the Noles cruised through the ACC to win the regular season title and ACC Tournament.

A big part of FSU’s success was shortstop Josie Muffley, who was a human highlight reel in the field during her time in the garnet and gold. Muffley wasn’t known for his bat, although he hit a respectable .261 with two home runs, and 25 RBI.

She was also successful on 12 of 14 stolen base attempts. However, it was her work with the glove that made her one of the fan favorites.

Muffley announced at the end of June that she would get a chance to live her dream of playing professional softball. That became official earlier Wednesday as Athletes Unlimited announced the signing:

Muffley leaping grap on a line drive to turn a double play against Washington sealed FSU’s trip to the Women’s College World Series against Oklahoma. How cool is it that she’ll be in the same infield as former Nole great Jessie Warren? Did I mention Warren won the Defensive MVP award recently?

Well, she did, and that would be one heck of a left side of the infield. Athletes Unlimited Softball head into its fourth season beginning on July 28th in Rosemont, Illinois. The games will take place at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex, with tickets on sale now.

The season lasts five weeks, going through the end of August, with games airing on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, and ESPN+. Muffley’s hardwork and persistence is a testament to what’s possible if you put in the hard work and take advantage of opportunities. It’s also a credit to Coach Lonni Alameda and staff with how they develop players. Congrats to Josie!
