FSU football: Five-star DE visiting FSU’s campus at the end of July
FSU football is shaping up to have a huge recruiting weekend at the end of July. The dead period will officially come to a close then.
The coaching staff will finally have an opportunity to build relationships, yet again, with highly-touted prospects.
The Seminoles have made their presence known in the 2025 recruiting cycle with four-star quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. and four-star wide receiver DL Hardison committed to the fold.
On Wednesday night, Class of 2025, five-star defensive end Armondo Blount from Miami Central High School in Miami, Florida, announced via his Twitter account that he will visit Florida State on July 29th for their recruiting event.
Blount ranks as the No. 5 prospect in the 2025 247Sports Composite rankings. The talented pass rusher took an unofficial visit with the Seminoles on March 21st.
While the Miami Hurricanes might have an advantage due to proximity, FSU is firmly in the mix with his recruitment. He played at Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, before transferring to Miami Central High School this offseason.
Blount had a phenomenal sophomore campaign in 2022, where he had 30 tackles for loss and 16 sacks. There are several teams involved in his recruitment other than Florida State and Miami such as Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Oklahoma, Penn State, Oregon, Tennessee, and Texas A&M, among others.
However, he has only unofficially visited in-state schools such as Miami, Florida, and Florida State this spring.
Defensive end prospects to monitor in the 2025 recruiting cycle right now are four-star Zion Grady, four-star Jared Smith, four-star Jalen Wiggins, four-star Isaiah Gibson, four-star London Merritt, and three-star Tyron Lee.
Pass rushers are always in demand when it comes to recruiting. Players at the position can single-handedly change the outcome of a football game. By that time, the Seminoles will have seen Jared Verse, Patrick Payton (most likely), and Gilber Edmond exhaust their eligibility or move to the NFL.
