FSU football: Top 15 important defensive players for 2023 season
By Kelvin Hunt
Kalen DeLoach
The experience at the linebacker position increases my belief FSU will be much better on defense this year.
Kalen DeLoach, with another year under his belt is one of those reasons, coupled with his experience playing with Tatum Bethune last season.
DeLoach saw a slight downtick in his production last season, but still finished third on the team with 65 total tackles.
DeLoach is the more athletic of the two linebackers and excels in pass coverage.
He dealt with injuries and played through them last year, including a nice effort in the bowl game with eight tackles and two tackles for a loss. I’d like to see him more aggressive against the run and making more tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage.
I think he’ll have that opportunity with the improved defensive line.
