The ascension of FSU football back among the top 10 programs nationally going into the 2023 season isn’t something many people predicted this time a year ago, much less two years ago when the Noles completed a pandemic ridden 3-6 campaign in Mike Norvell’s first season.

A lot has changed since then, as FSU has become the power again in the Sunshine State. FSU capture the state championship in 2022 for the first time since 2016.

Miami and Florida have changed head coaches, the ACC no longer has divisions, and Brent Venables finally left Clemson to take a head coaching job at Oklahoma.

The guys at Warchant brought up an interesting question regarding how FSU got to where it is now. How did the trajectory change so quickly? How did they go from getting blown out by Notre Dame in 2020 to taking them into overtime in the 2021 season opener?

How did FSU go from getting blown out by Miami in 2020 to beating them in 2021 after losing to Jacksonville State earlier?

It’s a complex question with multiple answers. Here are my three things that changed the trajectory of FSU football under Mike Norvell.
